Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 9 July 1897

William Houlehan, aged 52 years, died last Friday about 8:50 p.m. at his residence on South Green Street. He had been ill only since Tuesday and his death came as a surprise to many who were not acquainted with the serious character of his illness. His disease was rheumatism and it finally reached his heart.  Mr. Houlehan was a native of Ireland where his mother still lives. His one sister, Mrs. Stanley, resides in Springfield, Ill. About nineteen years ago Mr. Houlehan was married to Miss Katharine Sullivan, who with five children survives him. The deceased had been in the employ of Albert Muhleisen for seventeen years and was known as a sober, industrious and a thoroughly honest man. He was a devout member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and his death is greatly mourned by his many friends. -s
